    I've never heard that. However, I have seen a few muggers here that love long, complex answers to simple questions. Often they are on a side thread that has little or nothing to do with the original question. I ignore them.

    When used in proper, time-tested context, yes, this and other hoary phrases can seem stale and uninteresting. I am still impressed and delighted when such phrases are used cleverly and appropriately with sardonic or facetious intent.
