I would like to hear those of you with education credentials or who worked in education in some capacity about governments keeping schools closed.  Also you parents of school age children.

I'm not a parent, but two of my nieces are teachers as well as parents.  Both live outside NYC and both have said that it's very difficult teaching remotely.  As far as sending their young children to school, they have mixed feelings.  I'm not sure what I would do if I were a parent.  I'm just thankful that I don't have to make this decision.

Personally, I think that missing so much school this year for many kids will be disastrous and the normal testing that goes on should be discontinued.  It will not be representative of what those kids are learning or not.  It's true that we have never had to face this situation before in most of out lifetimes, but I would think that we should have had a better handle on how to manage schooling at this point.  You can't so remote learning in areas where kids don't have laptops or computers or internet connections.  These are the kids whose educations will suffer the most.

I am glad I am no longer teaching. I couldn't do what they are now.

Maybe if I get high again, something will come to me. At the moment, I've got nothing.

I've never had any that took over about 75 minutes, but I get what you're saying. You have to just sort of be able to accept whatever comes. The control is a factor for lots of people, I think.

I bought a battery powered Christmas candle - the middle part is a tube filled with water and there is metal flakes in the water. There is a spining paddle at the bottom of the tube that swirls the flakes around. After a day or so the flakes clump together and stick to the bottom  of the tube so I shut the candle off.  After a few days the flakes un clump and the candle works properally. What I think happens is the flakess get magnetized from spinning around and rubbing together. So I am wondering if there is something I can add to the water to stop them from getting magnetized. Cheers and happy  weekend!

Are you sure the flakes are actually metal? I think they're usually just shiny plastic in those sorts of things because of rust. But I don't know.
