I read that when he signed he invoked a law from 1974.
Which allows him to "red line" parts of the bill and send them back to the Congress.
So it may still end up at $2000.
I can not find any news networks mentioning it however.

I do know the House is voting on the $2000 today.

It was our headline sweetie in the largest typeface I have EVER seen! "PRESIDENT PIVOTS, SIGNS RELIEF BILL"!  Now I don't know what time the Press Enterprise has to put the paper "to bed" but we got it this morning about 4:30am. No coverage on the news? Weird. Anyway our auto bill (half a year) is due February 1...It is $394.11. They bill us twice a year. So it will come in handy. You think there is a possibility it will be $2000? Of course we Dems would LOVE that but I don't think McConnell and the others will go for it. Anyway whatever happens is not in our control. Thank you for your reply. Jim's been watching golf and tennis and I haven't checked out Yahoo or Google yet so I don't know what being reported on TV stations. I guess we'll find out soon ehough! :)

I did just hear it mentioned on CSPAN. A caller mentioned it and then the host read something about it.   But yes, the $2000 is still possible. Will depend on Senate. I will be contacting mine soon. I know one is on favor (Hawley) and have not heard on the other (Blunt)

I think he only signed it because the brown stuff that floats in the toilet did hit the fan plus it is another example of him being a loser that didn't get what he wanted and promised.  He could of signed the bill days ago and saved people a bit of worry then work at finding more money for the people maybe by diverting money from his ego wall. Cheers!

Actually most people who support him opposed the bill. And were ticked off that he signed it. Myself included.

Better to shut down the government. That makes a lot of sense.

Covid bill and gov spending bill should never have been merged.
I would have pocket vetoed.  And signed an EO for the direct payments and other relief I wanted and let them sue. I would have signed that EO before the election.

Well the House voted for the $2000 instead of $600 and it goes to the Senate where Mitch McConnell will decide if he even brings that bill to the floor for a vote. Weird. The DEMS always wanted the $2000 payment and the "head" is supporting that and going against his own party with a vengeance. We have no idea how it will all come down, play out. Stay tuned. Watch. I wish I could say it's tons of fun being an American but for the last 4 years it sucks! Sigh. Thank you for your reply Nanoose and Happy Tuesday to you and yours! STAY SAFE! :)
