Sounds like a Jeffrey Dahmer sort of thing. This post was edited by Kittigate at January 1, 2021 2:13 PM MST

There is no such thing. A sandwich, by definition, must have two slices of bread with stuff between them. How would one pick one up, anyhow?

    I prefer them.
It's half the amount of bread, therefore fewer carbs.
I love being able to see the ingredients.

My favourite is avocado, ripe camembert, finely ground fresh parsley and cracked black pepper on toasted wholemeal rye bread.

And one may eliminate both slices of bread, resulting in even fewer carbs and an even healthier, more weight-conscious and blood glucose-friendly meal.

My mom was a big fan of open faced sandwiches.  I don't like to eat with my hands so I eat sandwiches with a knife and fork anyway.  I toast the bread 100% of the time and generally use the open face method for egg & cheese sandwiches barbeque sandwiches.  My husband likes sloppy joes open faced on hamburger buns.  I also like chipped roast beef in gravy on toast as well as creamed tuna.

With the tip of my tongue first. No..haha.I have trouble eating the things on the run and they're messy so I usually refrain. Peanut butter on top of a bagel is manageable over the sink. People use disposable plates and plastic forks here. No class. Paper plates buckle on my lap and there are certainly no tables or chairs anywhere. Low class. Plastic iconoclastic. We? I can only speak for myself, but I am on a carb-conscious diet, so I tend to avoid bread and sandwiches in general.

I got you all now. The open faced sandwich is when you cook mushroom soup with a quarter milk and then add fresh tuna and cooked peas and pour it over preferential buttered toast.

Do not mind them at all, just a different type of food experience.  Here they are called toasts however

They are okay. Not something I normally have. They are a bit messy too. There was only one I really liked called an open faced seafood sandwich. Was from a local restaurant that is now closed.
