America more than looks like a Banana Republic - it IS one already and you can thank the Turd in Chief.

With far-left Socialist Biden and Communist Harris stepping into office, we could very well end up with no Republic. And with the Democrats reclaiming the Senate, the Constitution and the First two Amendments will be first in line to be attacked and eliminated. Then the rest of our freedoms and rights will follow. And what makes all of this even more troubling is that the Biden supporters know all this but they simply don't care just as long as Trump is gone.

I must respectfully disagree with you.  If you do a little research, i believe you will find that this country and its people have prospered and done better under Democrat majorities than Republican.  It only took me two minutes to find these articles.

Point taken. However, what Biden has planned for this economy (Green New Deal, end fracking, etc,) will destroy a whole lot of jobs, especially in the middle class, and will eventually break our economy. I wouldn't necessarily say this if Biden was an actual old-school Democrat because they wouldn't try to pull a stunt like that. But then he isn't an old-school Democrat. He's far from it. As is Kamala Harris. This post was edited by rusureamisure? at January 21, 2021 2:45 PM MST

I understand your points, but I also believe that we cannot continue to strip the planet, pollute the air, pollute our water supplies, etc. without it destroying the economy and us.  We must do all we can to come up with renewable sources for our energy needs.  It doesn't mean we have to eliminate completely everything we have now, that would not work.  What it does mean is that new jobs will be created to replace the old ones.  Unless you don't believe in science, you should be able to see for yourself that the temperatures are getting milder, polar cap ice is melting in some places, polar bears may become extinct, whatever swims in the oceans will die off and with, food supplies.  I imagine that your same arguments could have been made when we went from horses and carriages to autos.

  • I have to laugh when people say that Biden is a "far-left socialist". Lol. They really have no clue what socialism is or who the far left are. (Hint: the far left hate Biden). This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 21, 2021 3:07 PM MST

Here is a good place to start.

    https://www.the-sun.com/news/1675492/joe-biden-gun-control-president-elect-donald-trump/

This is only the tip of the iceberg. It will only get worse. All you need to do is research it for yourself. As far as the First Amendment is concerned, we have already seen evidence of this by big tech companies banning and removing conservative free speech apps from their websites. I closed my Amazon account for that very reason.

Freedom of speech is a basic human right. We don’t have it because the First Amendment “gives” us the right; we have the First Amendment in recognition of our right. The same applies to the Second Amendment.

The gun control measures the left wants to insert will indeed infringe upon our right. Which, if brought to fruition, will basically cause the Second Amendment to become null and void. That is if these actions are left unchallenged. Something tells me, they won't be left unchallenged.

Freedom of speech does not guarantee freedom to incite violence, insurrection or rioting.  That's why you can't yell "Fire" in a movie theater.  As private companies, they are within their rights to set up whatever legal terms of service they choose and those who violate it can be removed.

As for the Second Amendment, that came at a time when there was no formal law enforcement and at the beginning of our nation to protect us from England (or any other country) from attempting to take us over.  With no standing army, we would not have been able to defend ourselves.

People have been screaming that the left wants to take their guns for years.  Has it happened - no.  What we want is for there to be responsible gun ownership.  Background checks need to be reinforced and closing loopholes in gun purchases at gun shows needs to happen.  There are too may nuts out there with guns and, with the exception of the military and law enforcement, NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE, needs an AR-15 or any other automatic weapon.

  • I‘m mostly indifferent, but the actions of fascists wrapped up in the language of liberty does suggest we shouldn’t believe everything we’re told.

  • I think it's important to remember that this kind of thing doesn't only happen in third world countries and that a lot of the coups we see in third world countries are due to the meddling of the U.S.!

I'm not disagreeing it was a pathetic sight. But I get a little apprehensive when we start acting like what happened is so foreign when it was very much home-grown.
