    Yeah, as a child, my father always yelled at me; "You are so damn dumb!"  At that time I knew I was smarter than he, and after I became an adult, I proved it.

    People generally don't call others stupid because they are.  They do it to hurt the ones who aren't.

    I'm not sure what they were suffering. One thing I know for sure is, that if arguments are running out it's pretty easy to take cheap shots at my English skills and talk about them as I'm an illiterate. It has happened more than once. One of the privileges we meet as participants in discussions as non-native English speaking. Luckily only once here at aM.

    Doesn't really make it go, does it? It happened. It can't be taken back. It will always be there. Whatever motives they might have had, whatever justification they could convince themselves about. One person doesn't define who we are. That's what I have in mind. Thank you. :-)

    By the time Ms. Powell (my fourth grade teacher) said it, I had lost count. :-)

    I have two degrees, a trade school diploma and all kinds of ancillary training...but in the fourth grade I was dubbed an a$$tard extraordinaire. :-)

    Sure, especially behind my back, I'm sure. But mostly it's not me that's stupid, it's my stupid behavior. I get that a lot. "Don't be stupid!" "Don't do something stupid!" "You're smart, but that was a stupid thing to do!" Etc.
