Do you remember what was the venue and how much money you spent the very first time you took someone out on a date?

I've never taken someone on a date.  I've paid for a meal when it was his birthday.

Not cheapo.  I'm old enough that girls didn't pay for dates generally.  Of course once you dated a while there was more cost sharing.  I didn't like dating until I met my husband.  I was still in high school and he was in college in another state.  Neither of us had very much money, other than what I earned working at a movie theatre after school and on weekends and the spending money he got from his parents.  We often just hung out at one of our houses or with other kids at the teen hangouts.  I always had to be home by 10 until I graduated HS and went to work with the telephone company.  I was then allowed to stay out until 11 when I was with him.  If I was with girlfriends I still had to be home by 10.  Can you now understand why I was so adept at climbing out my bedroom window?

I hope you know I was only joking with that “cheapo” crack, my friend.

Of course.  Didn't even give it a thought.

Dinner and a a movie. I can't remember how much I spent, but I do remember which movie it was and where (Gremlins at the Hayden Cinemas in Penrith).
