Quite subconsciously and purely out of habit, I vigorously shook a bottled beverage before opening it, but the beverage is water.

I didn’t catch myself doing it until I unscrewed the cap, and it made me wonder: is there anything in bottled water that might separate and/or settle to the bottom requiring it to be shaken?

My first thought is bugs and dirt.  The bugs would float to the top so that leaves them out.  Dirt on the bottom is my final choice.
