Are you ready to go fishing?

I've only been fishing once in my life.  I couldn't stand to put the work on the hook, so my date did it for me.  I caught 6 porgies and we called it a day.  When I brought them home, my mother asked why I didn't have them scaled and beheaded and I said it was because I didn't want her to think I bought them in the fish store.  She threw them out.  :)

If I could catch a fish like that one I would seriously think about going out there.

Want to go fishing Chris? Ya dad.. Well, hurry up he says. Every other weekend he would skiff five miles in the ocean for the big tuna and cod and halibut and blue fish. We trawl for blue fish. He use the Christmas tree lure a lot. Roe and sea worms. Sand sharks and dog fish and sting rays and eels and perch and flounder and mackerel and pickerell. Lemon sole flounder and menhaden. Haddock and hake a lot of caught. He put on waders and dug for mussels and clams and crayfish. Pollock! He was a big fan of dungeoness and rock crab. Big plates of steaming clams he made with butter sauce. Atlantic Salmon! Puffin Fish! Scallions and scallops a lot too. This post was edited by CosmicWunderkind at April 2, 2021 7:55 AM MDT

I've caught cod and skulpins but never halibut or bluefish.

It's a Maumee River walleye. The largest I've ever seen. (That's not me.)

I don't fish anymore and can't bear to watch anyone else fishing.

I'll just watch and hope that no creature is harmed. :)

Sure you will.  Put hope in one pocket and Sh** in the other and see what fills up faster.

Fishing is about death, the death of the fish in order to feed human beings.

    LOL!!

Sometimes. Sometimes it's about spending time with someone you love and not killing anything at all.

Wild-caught fish have lived far better lives than any factory-farmed animal.

    Of course!

I think I've caught my last fish, but I sincerely do miss fishing. The patience required, the quiet, the anticipation and excitement.

I haven't fished in two years because of my back and shoulder. I actually don't miss it much. And I can't find my &*%$ tackle box.

I'm sorry to hear it. There are other ways to enjoy the great outdoors and you don't even need tackle! :)

Well, I can't walk far, so I guess sitting on my front porch drinking beer is the best I can do for now. I like to watch the birds.

I'm on my first right now, but it is too cold to sit on the porch. Bummer.
