Make sure you government knows your position.   They will hide behind the "hate speech" and hope you do not know they are claiming political speech = hate speech.

C-10  is a needed bill because there is way too much hate on the Internet. We will still be able to speak our minds about politictans like I could still say - roses are red and violets are blue but Justin Trudeau wears Argyle socks and looks like a fool. But I won't be able to say - roses are red  and violets are blue Justin Trudeau wears Argyle socks so he should be shot and hung too. Cheers and happy weekend!

Why let them censor you?  You are an adult.  You can decide for yourself what you do or do not want to see/hear.

Threats against your PM should already be illegal without this law.  This post was edited by my2cents at April 24, 2021 12:52 PM MDT

Have you read bill C10? I did, and one thing stood out

Users of social media who upload programs for sharing with other users and are not affiliated with the service provider will not be subject to regulation.

Section 2(b) of the Charter provides that everyone has freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, and includes freedom of the press and other media of communication. Section 2(b) has been broadly interpreted as encompassing any activity or communication, aside from violence or threats of violence, which conveys or attempts to convey meaning

Do you think threats of violence are good and should be allowed?

If it is JUST threats of violence that is good.

I do not believe it is just that.  If it was that is what it would say.

Instead it says "hate speech" and "hurtful language against politicians" ....not threats...hurtful speech.

I do not believe in the thought police.

    Threats are not already illegal?

If not then it should be.  If it is then another law is not needed.

The internet was not specifically covered by the old law, thus this had to be put in so nobody can use that as a loophole. They are filling loopholes that were not covered because the laws were written before the internet.  Are all these loopholes covered in your constitution?

We have laws that cover internet threats.

The law may exempt users of social media. But it is going after the website operators. Requiring them to remove the objectionable content within 24hrs.     This post was edited by my2cents at April 25, 2021 6:41 AM MDT

    Or China.

But this is supposed to be a country that values freedom of speech.  So I was shocked.
