Did you mean "had?"  Can't recall exactly, but it was quite a while ago.

It was back during the Great Biotic invasion of '18.  When them Biotics landed, the government hurried us into underground bunkers.  They told us that they we'd be safer there as the bunkers were "Biotic proof".  They lied.  In less than an hour from the time they landed, the first wave of Biotics broke into the bunkers.  In the blink of an eye, over 100 people were gone.  I crammed myself into one of the sewage pipes and stayed as still as I could be.  The screams that echoed off the concrete walls were deafening, but they quickly died out, leaving only dead silence.  I stayed inside that pipe for what seemed like days before I dared venture out.  When I finally did, what I was shocked by what I saw.  I was in a large, deep hole.  The entire bunker as well as everything that was inside was...was gone.  No concrete, no debris ... not even a scorch mark on the earthen walls.  It was as if the bunker had never been there.  A faint odor of what I assumed was bleach wafted in the air.

It took several hours before I was finally able to climb out of the hole.  I noticed a large tent several hundred yards to the east.  Just beyond were numerous military vehicles.  I slowly made my way towards the tent, not knowing what I’d find.  Suddenly I was surrounded by 3 soldiers, each pointing their weapon at me.  In a deep gravelly voice, one of the soldiers asked me where I’d come from.  I motioned behind towards where the bunker used to be.  He gave one nod and they escorted me inside the tent.  The tent was empty save for a young man dressed in fatigues sitting behind a long table.  On the table were several small white bottles.  Civilian?  He asked.  I slowly nodded.  He picked up one of the bottles and extended it towards me.  Not many of you left, he added.  I cautiously took the bottle from him.  The only marking of any kind on the bottle was a large red “X” on the lid.  I asked him what it was.  It’s a new drug we developed that repels the Biotics.  We call them anti-Biotics.  Take two of them every 6 hours with food.

A few months ago. Because I've had a joint replacement, I have to take antibiotics prior to any dental procedures including cleaning.

The last time I had surgery; 2016.  My dentist prescribes amoxicillin to be taken one hour before appointments for cleaning for patients who have had knee replacements (and I suppose some other surgeries).   Although it did at one time, the American Dental Association no longer recommends this practice.  I choose not to take the antibiotics and haven't for a few years.  I'm very serious about not taking them unless absolutely necessary.

You got me started on researching this.  It's very confusing. It looks like the ADA defers to the orthopedic surgeon. Other research shows little benefit for those with joint replacements and I know the downside of taking unneeded antibiotics. My surgeon said I would need to take them for life and he is the one who writes my prescription. I will be seeing both my dentist and my surgeon (my 5-year follow up) soon and will be asking both of them for their thoughts. I am inclined to stop taking them on my own but I may as well hear them out.

If you think about it, I'd like to hear what they say about it.   Did you mean that you have to take antibiotics every day for life, or every time you have your teeth cleaned?  I hope the latter.

Odd, I badly cut my leg yesterday during a fall. Twelve stitches and antibiotics for 10 days. I had my daughter's friend patch me up.

What about ME?  What am I, chopped liver? Have you seen how long the lines are at the Free Clinic these days? You fawn over the Professor, he’s not even stalking you. I deserve a little sympathy here too, you know. Grrrrrrr.

Long lines, really? I'd have thought all you need to do these days is point the webcam at your "package" for the nurse to diagnose and a drone drops off the appropriate prescription two hours later!
I'll give you the same amount of sympathy I give for someone whose feet get wet because they chose not to wear boots.
