Donuts were originally called oily cakes.

When we go to Krispy Kreme we don't order doughnuts; we order a dozen glazed and a couple chocolate-covered-cream-filleds.

Krispy Kreme makes the best donuts.  I love the glazed. :)

The house I lived in for so many years (until 2010) was near  a KK shop; it was one that actually cooked the doughnuts.  The walls were glass so you could see the whole operation while in the store.  My kids could spend at least an hour watching.  And I got to sit for that long drinking coffee.  :)

Fortunately for me, there isn't one close enough for me to get to without having to drive and I won't do that.  :)

There isn't one where I live now either.  When I visit my daughter I always take the kids to KK.  The current store that does the cooking now in that city is on the other side of town from my (now my daughter's) house.  I'm glad the kids are old enough now to simply want doughnuts and not the cooking show.  :)

And if it weren't for nuts, what would doughnuts and lots of people be called, eh?

Kittigate is the author of the question, not Stu. My reply is to the author.

You have only yourself to blame for your confusion.

If you look at the original question, it contains the word “wasn’t”. Then look at Stu’s answer to the question, it contains the word “weren’t”. Then look at my post, which you apparently mistook for a rebuttal to Stu. However, even though my post comes right after Stu’s answer, it has absolutely nothing to do with Stu nor with what Stu wrote. Furthermore, it could not be directed at Stu because it has a word marked as incorrect that does not appear in Stu’s post at all.

You failed to pay close attention to detail and made an assumption, that’s why you confused yourself.
