Parents of the bride; parents of the groom pay for the reception and honeymoon.  First weddings only.  Subsequent nuptial productions are the responsibility of the bride and groom themselves.

The USA has many cultures. Who pays for the wedding is dependant on who can afford it. I think large, lavish weddings are stupid, so my daughter and her husband payed for their own, as did my son and his wife.

It used to be that the bride's parents paid for everything except the clergy fee, the flowers and the music.  Not sure what today's traditions are.
