You DO remember that you can write in the name of person of your choice when you vote for President, right?

We do not have to accept the party candidates OR even the two party system for that matter.  Get out there and make your voice heard!

  • Yes.  It's fairly futile though.   Voting third party candidates most of my life.  There is one truth I always knew.  The electoral college would never allow it.   We don't vote for President.  The electoral college does. As long as that blemish exists,  it's gonna be a two party system.

    No! Don't encourage people to do that. Electing a leader is serious business. They don't need to waste their vote.

  • I think you misunderstood what I mean.  There's a significant number of people out there that are so frustrated with both candidates that neither seems the better choice.  A catch22.  Therefor their vote has been wasted by default.

  • BTW.  No we don't have a democracy. Never did, nor intended to be one.  We have a Republic of democratically elected representatives.  Nor do we vote on the President.  We vote on who we want our states Electors to vote for President. They don't have to follow the people's choice and it's not truly a one person, one vote system as is widely believed.   You can vote, but your vote doesn't cancel my opposite vote and vice-versa in any way. We liver in different districts, in different states, trying to sway different Electors. We aren't really voting in the same race  because of that.

    Yes that is always an option. I have voted 3rd party before as a protest vote before. I voted for the Libertarian candidate for Senator when the Republican made to stupid comment about pregnancy not being possible in the case of rape.

    The state I live in doesn't allow it but we can leave a race blank if we don't like the choices.
