What are some shortcuts or cheats in cooking methods by which you just don’t abide? (See explanation below.)

 

  I know of a guy who “barbecues” meat by microwaving it on high heat (no seasonings), and after taking it out, pours barbecue sauce over it and serving it just like that. Believe me, it certainly tasted as if he prepares it that way, and after being invited to his place that one time several years ago, I have never partaken of his culinary endeavors again.

    Using non-dairy "milk" in cookies or cakes.
    I can often tell the difference, and it isn't good.

    I've been served microwaved (baked) potatoes.  I would never do this to myself much less guests.  I would also never eat or serve deli potato/chicken/tuna salad.
