Being a heavy boozer for a large part of my lifetime almost all my friends were heavy boozers also. Other than being drunks we never caused much trouble except a couple of times police intervention was required because we were 'getting too loud'.
Some people expect more attention, conversation, hanging out, etc. than I want. That is why I have a few very close friends who are more like me. With other people I keep some distance and am careful to never say yes to consecutive invitations.
