What is an example of 'getting the runaround' -that you have witnessed or experienced yourself?

Eg A lent B $90. so on payday A goes to B to collect but B says he/she did not get paid but tells A to go to C and collect $90 that C owes B. C says he/she does not owe any money to B and never did. So A goes back to B 'gimme my $90'! B says ok but I can't give you the money until I  collect off that deadbeat C.
And so it goes.
