Have you ever heard of a wedding raffle?

A middle-aged couple, second marriage for both, held a raffle to raise money for their wedding (I guess).  The tickets were $10.00.  Is this the "in" thing to do nowadays?

    Have not heard of it.
It would actually be illegal in Washington - since only the government can violate the Constitutional prohibition on gambling.

    What was the prize?

  • Oh...I don't know.  I wasn't that interested.  I just assumed the prize was getting to go to the wedding, LOL.

No, I haven't. My second wedding cost $100, no more sex, loss of happiness, and the will to live, so I needed no raffle.

Oh, it's not that bad! You said she even pays for her own pizza! ;)

You definitely don't paint a very bright picture. Come to think of it, most people I know don't.

Hey... maybe I am a little bit savvy after all! :)

She’s one of those women who married the man only for his celibacy. Grrrrrrr.

No, not in my world.  I would not help middle agers pay for a second wedding, or even a first if they didn't have one the first time.  What is wrong with people?

As stupid as most people are I wouldn't be a bit surprised  (winner gets a night with the bride or groom).

I want to be married at the courthouse and not have a big wedding.  It costs too much and I'm in a hurry, I want to beat my expiration date.

You can do better than a courthouse, though. If you can't find a religious official to marry you at a public park for a comparable cost, just pay a friend or relative the $50 or whatever it costs to become an ordained officiant and have them do it!

I don't see why not.  I'd marry him on Zoom then I could go and get him and it wouldn't be kidnapping. hahahahaha

I have not heard of either a raffle or charging an entrance fee (which is what this raffle sounds like to me, without any actual prize involved).
