    No.

But I know a few marriages where the husband forbids the wife from working a paying job outside the home.

Forbids?  How about them coming to an agreement?  Or is this a prisoner type of relationship?

That’s ridiculous, I mean nobody keeps anyone prisoner in their own homes, right?  Right? RIGHT?

    Meanwhile, at the third sub-basement  . . .

According to their religious beliefs, the wife is subservient to the husband.
Since that is also the wife's belief, they are in agreement that "what the husband says, is the rule".

They need to read the rest the Bible is clear about how to treat a spouse.
Any husband who mistreats his wife is not following the Bible.

If anybody asks me, which they don't, I would point out that the Bible allows slavery and was compiled by men who wanted to keep the masses "in line".

Of course it says to treat slaves and wives well.
That's the best way to keep them from rebelling against slaveholders and husbands.

It is for millions of people who believe that interpretation of the Bible, regardless of what you, I, or anybody else thinks.

No. I do know a couple who when their children were young, the husband stayed home with the kids because his wife made more money than he did. And daycare was too expensive.  She was in medical work. He now works as a prison guard.

No, but then again, I’m not exactly tuned into what a lot of other people do in areas of their lives that are none of my beeswax. Doing stuff like that might get a whole bunch of restraining orders filed against me. Hey, wait a second . . .

No, but I know of cases like my parents, where my mother made substantially more money than my father and was the primary breadwinner.

I do and not only does he have her work to support him and herself he lets her chop the firewood and carry in all the groceries she buys for them too. He is healthy enough to do all that stuff but I guess he is just a lazy mooch. Cheers and happy weekend!
