That’s not your origin story, is it? In fact, it’s not even the origin story of the guy you mentioned, it’s not an origin story at all.
:(
She did the same with me at least a year or two prior to AnswerBag imploding, she invited me to join AnswerMug. I balked at first because I saw it as high treason, and I believed at the time that AnswerMug (sight unseen) just had to be the inferior of the two websites. She persisted a little, and to appease her, I grudgingly promise to at least log onto it.
The only way to take a definitive look-see was to create a member account, which I did. I didn’t want my presence known, so I chose a different screen name, “DarqueKnight”. True to my assumptions, I didn’t like anything I saw in AnswerMug, especially because I was comparing it to AnswerBag. I didn’t stay long, and very soon forgot all about it.
Years later, AnswerBag disappeared, i floundered for about two or three months on Quora, Reddit, Experience Project, and others before finally stumbling across AnswerMug again. I didn’t even remember that I already had a profile. When I tried to create Randy D there, the system said my email address was already registered. The DarqueKnight profile popped up, and it all came back to me. I logged on, changed the name to Randy D, and discovered that a majority of AnswerBag refugees were already here. I had to swallow a lot of crow because I had previously looked down on AnswerMug, but being the only game in town, it was fish or cut bait.
