In the environs whereabouts you live, do you get about the similar amount of sunshine in winter as you do in summer?

Where I live (Vancouver BC) it's sunshine every day (almost) during summer then rainy almost every day in winter.

    Adelaide has what is referred to as a "Mediterranean" climate, which means (except in times of drought) it never rains in summer, never stops raining in winter. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at November 3, 2021 5:54 AM MDT

    We don't get that many in Adelaide. Subtropical and temperate rainforests in New South Wales (where I grew up) tend to get them worse. Eucalyptus is pyrogenic, it requires fire to propagate. Ergo, it lays its own kindling and the leaves burn fiercely.

    No we have much less light in the winter. It is much colder as well. 
    We do not get rain/snow daily in any season. And we do not generally get long periods without rain.  Most of our rain comes to us in spring and fall.

    We get 14:56 sunshine hours for 8 days around the summer solstice, but only 9:24 hours for 4 days around the winter solstice.  A gain/loss of 5:32 hours between the 2 solstices.
    From May 1 to October 31, ~1%-2% of the days are partly cloudy to cloudy, whereas from November 1 through April 30 ~ 20%-25% of the days are from partly cloudy to cloudy.
