If you have ordered online from Walmart, are they using Uber drivers to deliver in your area?

Walmart has used them on two of my ship to home orders.  Do the drivers expect a tip? I did not ask for Uber and expected it to be shipped via UPS or US Postal etc.

Drivers actually texted me directly asking if I wanted them to leave the package at my door.  I texted "Yes, please." I did not tip them.

How do you know it’s an Uber driver?

The first driver actually called and had me confirm what I ordered while she was in my driveway. One of drivers texted me. Both let me know they were with uber and asked if I wanted them to leave the package on the porch.

I wondered if the call and text was a way of contacting in hopes of a tip.

Maybe you haven't used Uber yourself, but tipping is left to the party ordering the trip.

    That wasn't what she asked.

She asked if the drivers expect to be tipped. My answer addressed that.

I addressed m2c's question. I am not going to defend myself.

    And I addressed Jaimie's, so we're even.

      (Jaime Jaimie)

Jaime is one of the spellings for the male version of the name.

She did spell it Jaimie. Have you been popping tildes again?

The "i" was left out in comment #3 above.

Nowadays people have strange name spellings. I don't think there are any names spelled wrong.

    1.  I didn’t claim that any name was spelled wrong.
    2.  Jaimie herself spells her name as Jaimie, therefore, that is how it should be spelled.
    3.  There are certain common or traditional spellings of names, which is not to say that they are either correct or incorrect, that is simply how they are spelled.

I get that. But given that I did not order an Uber delivery....I did not feel I should tip. Walmart should be paying proper hourly rate.  (2nd delivery I was not even home to give a tip)

And I was telling you that you weren't expected to. As I said, tipping is up to the party ordering the trip, Walmart in your case.

I don't know about anyone else in my area, but I've never had Uber deliver anything for Walmart. UPS or the USPS always made the deliveries. :)

This was the first time I have had anything delivered by Uber that was just online ship to home product.
I had a delivery today also from Walmart but it was Fedex.

That's interesting. I wonder if it's some sort of cost-saving thing or just an experiment? At least you got your package. :)

Could be a test thing to save money on shipping.  I have not found anyone else who has had a Walmart Uber delivery.

I don't usually see the delivery happen, but the last things I ordered were put on my porch in Walmart plastic bags.  The two 12-roll bath tissue items were sitting on my porch unboxed and unbagged.  I hope I get everything this way.  Walmart's packers for shipping can't even have double digit IQs.

I don't believe UPS and Fedex drivers can accept a tip, but your question reminds me of something I wondered just yesterday.  I ordered some things from Sams Club website but they were only available as pick-up items.  OK.  I drove over there at the appropriate time and parked in the special spaces and alerted them that I had arrived.  The guy came right out with my things.  After he walked away I felt horrified that I had not thought to tip him, but the more I thunked about I bet they can't take tips either.  Opinion?
