    You mean is it a sin for rich people to pay, what I call, the "stupidity tax"?
    No.

    Few people get rich by risking their money on something with such a low chance of returns.
    They are far more likely to invest in the stock market or venture capitalism.

    But unless the god they believe in (if any) commands not to play the lottery or gamble, it isn't a "sin".

    Lotteries are really a tax on the poor. I would be happy to see rich people paying a larger share.

  • I think the sin is when the lottery winner misspends all of it and becomes poor again.  That must be the ultimate torture.
