I hid up in the forepeak of the ship where all the spare lines are stowed one weekend day when I was required to be on board to stand duty watches on the gangway. I was off watch in the afternoon when the Officer-of-the-day decided that he wanted all off watch people to turn to and do some painting or some stupid thing that I didn't think he really had authority to do. I figured I could get in trouble if he saw me and ordered me to work so that's why I hid and had a nice peaceful snooze till I woke up in time for the dinner time meal.
