The neighborhood butcher was low on pork and beef products but lots of poultry. Supermarket store had plenty of all meat products. I noticed some empty shelves but i got everything I needed. I didn't go check see what should have been stocked on the empty shelves. Stock was low on powder milk.

I "had to" order a mixed bag from Japan, because they have a lot of KitKat flavors not available in America and I wanted to try them. I also gave a bunch of mixed flavor samples away as Christmas presents at work.
I know green tea KitKat and wasabi KitKat sound strange - but everybody I gave them to said they liked the taste.
It isn't so much that items are missing as it is the selection of brand items available is smaller. For example, I prefer Barilla pesto sauce. Last week, Walmart only offered a brand I don't like.
I've had similar problems with their selection. The funny thing is ... we have 2 Walmart "super stores" and if one doesn't have it, the other probably does. Yet if you ask them, they won't call the other store to check. They will tell you to do it, like it's a competitor.
It varies from week to week. Today there was only one bag of store-brand potato chips, no liverwurst, and the sports drink aisle was 3/4 empty. There were numerous empty shelves throughout the store.
I haven't been in a market in months because I do all my shopping online now. However back then, paper towels were never on the shelves but there was a way around that little annoyance.
It varies from trip to trip, however on my last trip 90% of spice section, 25% of the pickle section, 40% of the salad dressing section, 50% of the rice section, 70% of the pasta section, 25% of the canned bean section, and 90% of the canned meat section were empty.
(note: I don't shop all sections, and since the place is the size of 1-1/2 football fields, I don't go down every aisle either.)
The cat food that my daughter's fussy cats prefer can be hard to find.
During the TP panic-buying shortage I did consider subscribing to the local paper - Murdererdoch prints so much sh** that a little more wouldn't really make a difference. Decided against it though - Rupert rags are only soft on right-wing a-holes.
