If someone developed a wind-up car would you be interested?

There would be a heavy duty spring which when fully wound up would be good for about 20 miles. It would take about 2 hours of sweat to manually do the winding or you could hook up your garden hose to let the water pressure turn the blades on a shaft to do the winding.

Comma after each of the words ”car”, “spring”, and “up”.

No thank you. The premise alone is bad enough, but coupled with your description field, all I can say is, “Homie don’t play dat.”

I would be getting rich on all the money I save on gas.

I did mention that you could hook up your garden hose to let the water pressure do the work.

Still too long wait for only 20 miles.

No.  I wouldn't even change my own tire if I had a flat, let alone spend two hours winding up my car.

If there was a power outage for charging a battery car or a gas shortage you might be the only person able to drive or at least avoid the line- ups at gas stations if/when you really needed wheels.
'Course your wind up car would normally just be a secondary option if you had a place to park it.

Attach a solar panel and have it power a small motor to keep the spring continuously wound.

As soon as I saw in my notifications that you had answered this question, I was sure you gave a scientific outlook, so with much anticipation, I gleefully opened it, and you have not disappointed me.

Indeed. I am still working on a wind powered vehicle.

Great idea if you want to park your car outdoors.  I wouldn't give up my indoor parking space.

Spring wound by a turbine revolved by water from a garden hose..... Not for me - my water-supply is on a meter!

And where I live water consumption is often restricted during the dry summer months.
