If someone or something can convince me that I'm genuinely not capable of it, once. Otherwise I'll try a dozen times or more.

It depends, depends, depends! I did try something 3 times and failed so I gave up. I have tried to quit smoking many times but I will try again. If I at least gain an inch each time I try  then I will keep trying until I achieve all nine inches, a foot or whatever the goal is.

Try patches. I got them on prescription. Then wean yourself rather than cutting off immediately - I went to two pipes a day with the patch for a week, then one for another week. Then quit altogether. The patch was supposed to be a three month treatment, I was off those in less than half of that as well.

Patches here are $60 a box. Our insurance won't cover them.I guess the want us to die so they won't have to pay for other things.

Pays for itself over time, a three month treatment is cheaper than buying cigarettes for a year. Kit lives in a country with socialised medicine, like me, so it's bound to be cheaper (on prescription) in the land of grizzly bears and poutine, eh.
