Do you know of any weird kind of scientific research experiments that scientists do in order to add to the volumes of scientific knowledge?

Eg.. dropping the same potted plant to the ground 60 times from a certain height as part of research into plant memory.

Would you like to become a scientist...?  What kind of research would interest you?

The Ig Nobel prizes are full of them.

Excessive flea bites make puppies howl in pain so the cut the puppies' vocal cords. (No one wants to listen to crying puppies.

They used acid on the monkeys that damage part of the brain, the result was increasing fear and terror.   Then subjected the monkeys to large images of spiders and snakes etc.

Also did experiments on monkeys  to develop  an AIDS vaccine. On monkeys that  CANNOT get  AIDS.   That is not science that is just animal abuse.

What they learned? Who knows? This post was edited by my2cents at January 20, 2022 10:02 AM MST

I would like to research how a potted plant would attempt to protect itself after being dropped 60 times from a certain height.
