    I don't think I had ever heard anything about pillow tags at age 7.

    As a kid, I never gave it a thought.  As an adult, I have never removed my mattress tags.

    I heard it but wondered why anyone would fool with removing them.  I heard it over and over and by the time I was around teen years I found out that it didn't affect consumers.  The story I always heard was that we could not remove tags on mattresses or pillows or furniture cushions.     No. The tag is clear the law only applies before it is sold to a retail consumer.

    No.  That didn't stop my brother from teasing me about it.  "If you take it off, the FBI will come and haul you away".
    The tag was a good place to write your name so you wouldn't accidentally sleep in your brothers drool.
