Will you give a good reason to use a desktop computer instead of a smart phone?

The larger screen is one advantage.  Another is that a regular keyboard is easier to type on.  

It's nearly impossible to accidentally drop your computer in the toilet.

I would be able to do a lot more stuff with a desktop.

I love my desktop.  I've had it 12 years and I just ordered a memory upgrade for it..  Everything takes up so much of the resources now that I need to do it.  When I was shopping for memory I found it on an online store in Germany for $57 plus 19% VAT.   I went to Memorystock and bought what I needed for $24.  Wow.

Multiple monitors.
Even my personal computer has two monitors.

Time off from work.
If I did my work on a cell phone, my employer would be calling me with questions/projects all the time.
That's also why I turned down their offer of a laptop I could take home.

No autocorrect.

If you have to do real work or edit graphics etc a desktop is necessary.  

 

  The use of a mouse as opposed the touch-screen technology.

A decently-sized screen enabling me to examine complicated web-sites easily (though that does not necessarily make them easy to navigate!), and to use software like word-processors, photo-editors, spreadsheets and CAD properly.

A real keyboard with finger-sized buttons.

Convenient scrolling and pointing.

 

  Bigger screen on the desktop’s monitor than on the hand-held version.  That’s important when downloading the video feeds from the cameras I had secretly installed at a certain Minnesota residence . . .
