There is pleasure response to the neural reward system from eating. Both from taste and the A"full belly" sensation. This is to encourage the primal animal in you to seek out food before there is a dire need for nourishment. However it can become corrupted and that same pleasure response becomes a coping mechanism for dealing with negative feelings or displeasure. Hence you eat when your not hungry to experience pleasure. You're probably just bored and unstimulated and seeking out pleasurable stimulation with food.
That's a joke among some of my friends and family members. If you ask "why" someone is doing something, when it's just us around, we say want to in our best "Hillbilly." When I read this question that is the answer that came. Of course if the question is "Why don't you...........?" the answer might be daunt waunt to. I must keep that language among my crazy inner circle I guess. I'll try to stick to proper language here on prissy AM. I'm afraid I'm going to have to say a bad word about this ballgame. Come on, Bama!

Boredom, most likely. I find that when I'm out and about, even if it's running errands, I don't think about eating. As soon as I get home, I want to graze every half hour.
You eat certain foods like carbs and they make you hungrier. Sugar is like crack that way. White flour is another culprit. Go out and take a walk instead or do something physical you may like to do.
