What are some situations or circumstances where it is morally appropriate to take an item from the body of a person who has just died?

Removing jewelry so it isn't stolen by a funeral home or EMTs. (Family member, of course.)
Remove a wallet for identification.

Jewellery that has been willed (my wife's grandmother was buried with her wedding ring, but the Scarlet Pimpernel went to my wife, it's an heirloom that has been in the family for generations).
