Lead singer (Ann) and back up singer and guitarist (Nancy) of the band Heart.

Then I change my vote to the Wilson sisters.

Like Spunky said, Tina Turner for sure.

I make a distinction between Rock N Roll and Rock.  If we were talking about Rock I would have to say Heart or Pat Benatar.

Queen. But I would rank others ahead of Elvis. He was famous for being first, but he wasn't the greatest IMO.

He was the tool of the Establishment - a white man who sounded like a black one. Neither was he first - Jackie Brenston, Little Richard and Chuck Berry all predate him, which is why Sun pushed him so hard. The kids were tuning in to black music, which the powers that be didn't like much. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at April 13, 2022 7:55 AM MDT

When I asked this question to my wife, he was the first to come to mind. I even told her somebody here would choose him.

    Patsy Cline

(I know -- kick me out of class. I deserve it, ha. But I bet she'd've nailed rock, too.)
