Do you like tools?

I don't just like tools I love them. In fact I love them so much I give them cutesy pie pet names - like I call my chainsaw Chromey. Cheers!  

Only when I got a reason to use it. Like that time I used a brand-new drill to put up some blinds last weekend. Right now, I only got a canvas bag to carry my tools. Some day, I'll buy myself a real tool chest. This post was edited by Zack at April 27, 2022 5:51 PM MDT

I am a tool hoarder. I like antique tools and when I see them at yard sales I buy them. I have numerous tools I never use, including a steering wheel puller.

Yes.  The only stores in which I like to browse are ones such as Lowes, Home Depot, Menards, etc. 

Not for their own sake, I appreciate what they can do. I despise tools that don't do what they are putatively designed to do.

I used to, but my taste in men has improved significantly as I’ve matured. 

 Not so much "like" as appreciate and respect them. It's what they are for that matters more to me, and I like to use the right tool for the task, and use it correctly.

Nevertheless I do have some affection for three I own. One is a small lathe made probably in the 1950s, which was my 18th Birthday present from my parents. (It was not new but was in very good condition. Dad had bought it from someone at work.) The other is a manually-operated shaper now probably more than 100 years old, and still serviceable - I last used it only recently.

The third is a carpenter's beam compass I had inherited from our Dad. Initials and a date stamped on it show its origin - the retired cabinet-maker who had been our neighbour back in the early 1960s. Very close examination shows the brass fittings on it to have been hand-filed, and very carefully. The date corresponds to him possibly having made it as an apprentice-piece at the start of a 40-year career in his trade.  It is more than a treasured relic: I have used it a few times.

 

  Yes! I am afflicted with that malady that often strikes many guys: I have to have practically every layman’s automotive tool, carpentry tool, plumbing tool lawn/garden tool, etc. known to mankind, regardless of whether or not they’re practical for my own personal use, or whether or not I even know how to use all of them. When I die, there’s potentially a lot of money my survivors will make at an estate sale, yard sale, or garage sale.
