How far in advance do you usually book your long-distance vacation arrangements?

My wife and I do it anywhere from six to eight months in advance.

*This question is about the actual booking and/or reservations, not merely the planning stage.

Usually as soon as we know for certain that is what we are doing,  I book as soon as I find a good price.

The farthest we have booked was just under 1 yr ahead of time. This post was edited by my2cents at August 2, 2022 6:39 AM MDT

The last time we flew somewhere we decided one night and left two days later.

Overall whenever you’ve gone on vacations, has that been your norm?

I don't have the resources to go on any vacation, much less a long distance one, unless I run away from home which will never happen.

At any time in your adult life, have you gone on any long-distance vacations?

    It varies.

I've booked less than 30 days out and as long as 6 months.

If you consider a driving trip to Maine long distance, then a few months.

We know when (late May/early June every year), but rarely do anything about it until about six weeks prior.
We did Coober Pedy this year. Turned out the place we booked DIDN'T have a room ready and we had to hastily find alternative accommodation. Found out from the locals that we dodged a bullet - the place has a terrible reputation. Found a cabin at the local caravan park instead. More expensive but worth it.
