Have you ever camped out in a tent? If so, what's the most fun you remember having while tent-camping?

Yes, in both the Boy Scouts as a youngster, and then later in life in the Marine Corps. Very different experiences, lol.  I can’t pinpoint any particularly memorable “most fun” experience, but that doesn’t mean overall they were bad. I never went camping again after I left active duty. (By the way, thanks for posting this question based on inspiration that you received. You really turned things around on me. Wink, wink.)

Sorry that I neglected to give you a shout-out!

I've just recalled another very funny part about my most 'adult' fun experience in a tent. The tent was not of the pop-up variety, and we'd foolishly set it up in the sand. We awoke to find the tent had almost completely collapsed on top of us! So funny!

Yet. You haven't yet gone camping since leaving active duty. Or are you 100% against the idea?

I have no interest in going camping. It’s as likely to happen in my future as is marrying a certain woman in Minnesota who shall remain unnamed here for the time being. If she’ll have me, I just may go camping again someday. Shhhhhh.

She won't have you. But you might have a change of heart about camping, still. You never know!

Wait, how do you know that she won’t have me? The two of you have talked about it? Did she say something to you? Have you heard anything?  If you’re so confident that she won’t have me, then there’s no camping in my future. Grrrrrrr.

Wow, you went straight-up homegirl on me! (Refreshing shift in codes from your normal sway; I kind of like it!)

I might have reverted to trashing my mind with some Real Housewives of Potomac and Atlanta recently. Old distractions die hard...

    Lol.

(Would you believe that I have never seen any of those shows from that series?)

Yes. I would be more surprised if you said you've seen them!

One very appealing aspect for me is that they all travel a lot. I've vicariously visited many beautiful and exotic and interesting places over the years via watching this series.

Many times. Most fun was in Florida with another couple. It was an isolated campground and we were the only ones there. There was a small lake there.

    Nice!

You know me, E. My mind goes straight to the possibility of encounters with dangerous wildlife (alligators, snakes and panthers, oh my!) as the most fun and adventurous part of such a trip.

How about birds landing on our fingers and topless women. (They were jealous of me and my friend.) This post was edited by Element 99 at November 14, 2022 8:04 PM MST

Were they accustomed to humans providing food? Sounds like unusual behavior!

I have camped out in a tent many times. The most fun I ever had was playing with my toy boat in the bath tent I made and then sinking the boat with my torpedo. I brought one of those blow up wadding pools and put it in a tent. Then I heated water up on the campfire and filled up the pool. I also had metal pipes running from the campfire and into the tent so the air in the tent was nice and warm. Cheers and happy weekend!

Very comfortable and kind of cool. I also made a cooling tent fridge. It used water evaporation to cool the air in the cooling tent. It only cooled the air in the tent by a couple of degrees but it was fun. Cheers and happy weekend!
