Is this a fair sentence?

Stewart Rhoades, leader of the Oath Keepers, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for seditious conspiracy.  Maximum sentence would be 20 years.  I think the judge should have thrown the book at him and given him the full 20.

Well he should of got 20 but 18 is better than nothing if you tack on the song that was made about him. The song is called Stew Rhoades Coup Pants and it is sung to the tune of the Sponge Bob Square Pants song. In case you never heard it - it goes a little like this - Oh who is the guy that wears an eye patch just like me? Stew Rhoades Coup Pants! Shot his own eye out with a gun - hilariously. (something something something) Now he is charged with    seditious conspiracy and he will live in the same room where he goes pee. Stew Rhoades Coup Pants  - Stew Rhoades Coup Pants - Stew Rhoades Coup Pants. Cheers!

Well, he can use his time in prison to take up ceramics and make himself a set of teeth.

Some of these people will have finished their prison terms by 2024, but I suspect he will pardon anyone still in prison.

DeSantis also said if he is elected he will pardon some of the Jan. 6th prisoners. Seems like a pretty awful political platform to stand on. Cheers and happy weekend! This post was edited by Nanoose at May 28, 2023 6:43 PM MDT

Seriously, what difference does it really make? That’s a long time.

It is a long time, but the judge said he felt that if Rhoades got out sooner, he would be a threat, so I'm surprised he didn't give him the max.

But again, 18 years vs 20?

Two years is a long time when you're behind bars.

Of course it is. But at the same time, 20 is not significantly longer than 18.

Tell that to anyone who still has two years left on their sentence.

Stewart Rhoades may not think so, but I'm ok with it.

    Hello S:

He's a TRAITOR.  He should NEVER get out.  And it's my bet, he won't.  Lots of bad things could happen to him.

I admit I didn't see the details in the description of your question and my first thought after simply reading your question was , "No, it's not a fair sentence. It's a question."

    Ha.  :)

(Your complete question is interesting, though. )
