If it was a wolf, that would almost qualify!

This happened so long ago that the details are somewhat hazy. When I was a kid, we lived on the outskirts of town where there were some wooded areas. The neighborhood kids would prop up boxes with a stick and hope that squirrels or chipmunks would come after the bait and dislodge the stick, thus trapping themselves under the box. When I was probably around six and my sister was a year older, we got a baby chipmunk. My sister wanted to get something to put the chipmunk in and she wanted me to make sure it didn't get away in the meantime. I was wearing a dress and she told me to squat down and hold the skirt to the ground. She would put the chipmunk under my skirt and I was supposed to keep it there. She was always the ringleader and I always followed her lead. However, as you can imagine, the chipmunk was able to easily escape and I was traumatized.

    I love chipmunks!

Great story! We think things will be much easier than they usually are when we are young!

That last one I caught was a three pound catfish. Not very dangerous nor exciting. I capture a Fox snake once, and took it down to the river and released. Not very dangerous. It tried to bite me, but was too small. It wrapped around my arm. Quite docile.

I had a mouse in my bathroom once and captured it under a toilet plunger.

Put it into a plastic bag and threw it in the trash.

I'm sure it chewed its way out!

I caught one a few years ago and let it loose a couple of blocks away. This post was edited by SavvyAnsley at June 18, 2023 7:22 PM MDT

I took it down the street to a steel drum and banged it against the side a few times before dropping it in. I don’t think it did any more chewing.

No more so than a glue trap or snap trap.

Wasn't my catch, but our dog trapped a squirrel under the terrace once, where he couldn't get to it. I had to act as if the squirrel had escaped from the other side, for the dog to come running my way and the little walnut-thief to take advantage.

Fish, lizards, tortoises, water turtles, lightning bugs, a snake.  Nothing dangerous.
