I think there are two ways of looking at it: either we have been in moral decline for thousands of years, or it's just natural for people to feel that way, even though we're not necessarily less civilized than the average person in ancient Rome.
I think we have become less civilized in just the last 50 years and even more so since Covid. I find rudeness abounds in areas where I didn't see it before. There was a time when driving on the roads wasn't a blood sport. Sure, folks have always done crazy things when riving, but these days, you can wind up getting killed for a minor driving faux pas.
