As you use a spoon to stir things, does the concave part of the spoon face you or is it away from you?

Thanks, Spunky! Me, too, on the spoon, most of the time.

Thanks, Honey Dew. Most of the time it faces me, too.

Of course, facing away still gets the job done and a better choice at times, stirring yogurt is a good example.

Interesting! I'm new to the facing-away option.  :)

The concave, hollowed-out part faces my face, like it does when I try to drink something with it! I really hope that isn't the wrong answer... This post was edited by Danilo_G at June 22, 2023 4:07 PM MDT

No right-or-wring answer - - I just noticed several months ago that I always have it facing me and I started turning it away, along with facing me, as I stirred. I wondered if others were taught a certain way. I never got taught a certain way, a far as I remember - - anyway, I turn it both ways now as I stir. Ha. What are you trying to say; that you never stir the pot a little?

      Yes, of course not!

Along with Danilo_G's observation, I wonder if you turn your spoon sideways as you stir that pot.
    :)

It doesn't matter to me, either. I just noticed it  on me a while ago and wondered if others differently stir.  :)

It changes while I stir. Trick question? Where's my cookie? This post was edited by Element 99 at June 22, 2023 6:59 PM MDT

You change! Cool! Not a trick question but you're welcome to a cookie (though the ones I currently have are not particularly wonderful)

Here are a couple of my responses to others:

I just noticed several months ago that I always have it facing me and I started turning it away, along with facing me, as I stirred. I wondered if others were taught a certain way. I never got taught a certain way, a far as I remember - - anyway, I turn it both ways now as I stir. Ha.

I think it's normal to hold a spoon that you're using with the concave part facing up because that's how you eat from it. So we've been taught how to hold a spoon and when we point it down to stir, holding it the same way, the concave part will face us. That's my theory.

:) You wrote that in a very scientific way. Fun!
    And it makes sense.

About a month ago I started thinking about it as I looked at my hand and spoon as I stirred my chocolate milk/Instant Breakfast drink. I wondered if others may turn the spoon a different way. and i started turning it all sorts of ways and I've continued doing it that way.  :)

At the end of your answer, in my head I heard another sentence in fun: 'That's my theory. And I'm sticking to it."   :)

For me, the concave side faces upward and that changes as I empty the contents.  For young children it's a completely different story.

Add me to the completely different children's story, ha!
For no particular reason, I've started turning my spoon all different directions as I stir.  :)
