Have you watched "The Chosen," it is online and free?

I feel like binge watching is going to happen. I'm on season 1 episode 1.  Saw two trailers about "The Chosen," and was moved by them both.

There is a novel by the same name, which I have read, but I haven't seen this TV program.

From what I saw on line, the TV series is not the same story as the book at all.  Glad you're enjoying it.

There are the stories in the Bible with how it was back then.  For example the tax collector, I had not idea how hated they were.  The scenarios presented are very believable.

That’s the origin of antisemitic stereotypes and tropes like Jews being cheap and greedy and, later on, Jews controlling banks and financial institutions as well as the media.

Every week I used to tune into Kingpin tv series and watched like 7 episodes but suddenly it got pulled because of uproar from the Latino community. That is all I know. I have watched every episode of uncut Hells Kitchen make that about 265 episodes and season 19 now and I need to continue. I watch all reality bad chit. Last night I had a dream I was running and getting shot at. Crazy.

I like the image/poster you chose there for "Kingpin." I've not watched it.

(Sometime, if you've not seen it, consider watching the made-for-TV Stephen King's "The Shining" mini-series/four hour movie  directed by Mick Garris ( NOT Stanley Kubrick's famous theatrical movie, which, from what I've read, King was very unhappy with. as was I). King himself wrote the teleplay for the four-hour two part movie -- it's excellent and Steven Weber, to me, IS 'Jack Torrance' of King's "The Shining" novel, unlike crazy-from-the-start Jack Nicholson portrayal in the Kubrick movie. I do really like Shelley Duvall in Kubrick's movie, though. Yet, I read she pretty much was tortured by director Kubrick to get her terror-filled performance.)

I went way overboard again - - that "Kingpin" image made me think of "The Shining" for some reason. :)

I have watched a couple of Stephen Kings movies, they were really good. Not sure if I've seen "The Shining" yet.

I recommend the made-for-TV one I describe above in glowing terms.    :)

It looks scary, is it?  I don't like blood especially and gore.

    Just scary. Not gory.
It was made-for-network TV, so it's not even rated s far as PG, R, etc.

The first couple of episodes in season one are important to set the stage, give a base and understanding to the rest.  So far it is wonderful.

I watched episode 1. I would like to know why many scenes are so dark, I could barely see what was happening. I have no idea why these scenes couldn’t be produced with more light.

I have found that to be the case in many TV series' episodes, especially when they're re-runs on channels other than the originals.

I wondered the same thing.  In the house at night I understand, there was only minimal lighting back then, candles, it was probably very dark at night.

Word for word, my answer is the same as my2cents' answer.

EDIT: And I'm referring to this 'The Chosen" - - about Jesus. Whoa - -we'll see how large the image is when I post it - - it looks like it may be huge! Ha!

EDIT #2: it's WAY smaller here than what it looked like it might be,  ha

I read Chaim Potok’s novel with that title as well as his sequel, The Promise.

Ironically, they were about a black-hat  (Hasidic) Jewish boy growing up in Williamsburg here in Brooklyn, not about the rabbi who started a sect that became a new religion.
