Is it possible that Donald Trump fooled us all by saying all those outrageous things without meaning them?

To be nominated and then elected, perhaps he felt he needed to maximize his media exposure by drawing attention to and differentiating himself from his GOP primary opponents and then Hillary Clinton. What if he said all those things simply for the sake of exposure and publicity? He certainly got everyone talking about him.

James Carville on MSNBC, who knows a thing or three about political campaigns, said that almost everything that any candidate says during a campaign is BS.

Perhaps we'll never know the truth, but is our next president smarter than we think?

I was thinking the very same thing. Let's hope so.

  • The Donald fooled everyone ... He promised to be all things to all people ... The question remaining is how long before those people realise the emperor is stark naked?

    Hi Stu,

I'll start off by stating the obvious. Donald Trump is a very intelligent man who knows what people want to hear, and who knows how to resonate. And although he's relatively new to politics, he has toyed with the idea of running for decades, and over time has cottoned-on to out how it all works.

He exhibits psychopathic traits. He's a charmer, and he is unshakable under pressure. Its the same attributes that made him so successful in the world of business. The only difference now is that he's been doing it publicly in front of the whole country for the last two years, instead of hard-balling negotiations behind the closed doors of boardrooms. He knows how to win, and he's successfully executed it.

He's very competitive by nature. He thrives on winning. He competed against the other republicans for the nomination, he won. He competed against Hilary, he won. And now he's going to be competing against all of the former presidents in history because he will want to go down as the best.

I do believe that he believes he can do all he has promised. It doesn't necessarily mean he can get those things done, but I think that he genuinely believes he can. He wants the U.S to be the most successful nation in the world, and specifically because he wants to be the most successful leader in the world.

    It's going to be interesting...

He's like a real life troll. People just love-hate him for his trollish antics.

Absolutely this is true and trump used the media against its self. He also found support of the fringe by saying what no one else would say and it was enough for them that he said it. There is always talk about reaching the voters in the center but Trump found voters on each margin as well and got them to vote instead of staying home.

Why ask why? Predictions never work in this business. We just have to wait and see what happens.
