I may not have all the correct info here, but as I was told ------- the United Auto Workers have Veterans Day off. That means a rather large portion of that industry will be off.
Perhaps some letters to National Newspapers might prompt a change of name, Guessing it might go back to one of the post-World War customs. Some Unions may have won the day off from employers who were feeling sympathetic at the time. Feeling a bit too lazy to research it right now. --- :/
Veterans Day is a Federal holiday. Many many people are off on that day, including vets. Your question seems to make no sense but you may be asking why military personnel don't get that day off. They aren't vets until they finish a tour or retire, are they? I thought vets were former military personnel. I might be wrong.
I was a Veteran five times in a 20 year span. Of course active duty can't take the day off. I am talking about Veterans who are no longer in the service.
