WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden announced Sunday he will no longer seek re-election in an unprecedented move following weeks of mounting pressure from within his own party. He also endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President," he wrote in the letter to the nation. "And while it has been myintention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term."

    I liked and respected Biden but maybe it is for the best of the nation. Guess it means that Kamala will be debating Trump in the next presidential debate. Also wondering who she will pick for her VP. Cheers!

    Harris isn't the automatic nominee. Let's hope the Democrats show more unity for the new candidate,  whether it's Harris or someone else. If she debates Trump, I will guarantee he won't know what hit him.

    The media had a relentless campaign to keep that bad debate performance alive. Whether it was for ratings or some more sinister purpose, I can't be sure, but I have my thoughts. While, I am a liberal, it doesn't mean I support everything my party does. I hope this works out, but it's too soon to tell.

    They wanted him out before the debate. That is why they had it so early in the election season.   Normally Prisidential debates are in Sept and Oct.   June is crazy early.

    I just heard.  Will Harris automatically get the nomination or will they nominate someone else completely? 

    I have been hearing talk of Hillary for a couple of days from same saying Biden was out.  But I did not think he was dropping. 

    As I understand, the DNC rules they can give it to whoever they want now. 


    I would expect Newsome....God help us.

    The delegates will vote and select the candidate.  If there is no winner, there are super delegates who are independent who can now vote. The votes of the delegates and superdelegates would continue until there is a winner.

    Bet what is bugging Trump right now is that he is yesterdays news. For the past week Trump has been the top story because of the assassination attempt. But now it will be about Biden stepping down – who will replace him and who will be VP. Cheers!

    I'm a week behind because of my move (talk about a cluster****).  Now he's second after Harris who has raised an enormous amount of money in a short time.  Taking second to a woman and a Black/Asian one at that must really be biting him in the rear.
