Are moves like ditching the press pool a sign of things to come?

I guess Trumps method of communication will be via twitter .. agree? As a minority, I'm scared sh*tless at the growing hate. Welcome to the 1950's.

  • Hey man, at least in the 50's hate was shrinking.

  • Got to laugh to keep from crying  .. should have went back a few more years. Good point, just don't want to live any part of it.

  • "Got to laugh to keep from crying"

Exactly, if you can still laugh you aren't yet defeated.  Remember that people.

Think of this way.   Once the tire fire is lit your only recourse is to let it burn itself out.   It's gonna keep flaming and smoldering and flaming and smoldering until there is that last giant flair-up in it's last stages.
This might be that last big flair-up of tensions before the real change in attitudes comes.  Let's hope it is and try and make it be that.

Do you have data to show that hate has grown since Tuesday?

  • Just what I have tried to gather by all sources of medias reporting. I haven't had time to enter my data into my super computer.

You mean the same media that told us Hillary would win in a landslide and that all Trump supporters are uneducated racist pigs who never take showers? That media? This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at November 13, 2016 11:06 PM MST

  • Sorry Stu, I don't have the luxury of attending every event to see with my own eyes. I am restricted to trying to read and learn from all different sources. So yes from that media. I'm glad you have a much better source.

All I'm saying is the media seems to be less objective and accurate than it used to be.

  • I see quite a difference in a first meeting .. That was the point of my question.

As the article said, the meeting was covered by the White House press corps. Don't go looking for scandal at every turn. Hate Trump all you like, but this was really small potatoes.

Doesn't Barack Obama have a long history of avoiding the press? Nope, such a thing is not a new phenomenon invented by Donald Trump within the past week, nor was Barack Obama the first politician to use it.

Not to worry; there are psychologists standing by to offer counseling on how to cope . . .

"Breathe, young Cooper, breathe and relax, now close your eyes and let your mind drift slowly to a happy place where you feel the most comfortable, yes, that's right, just like that, and as you inhale, you're bringing in nothing but goodness and peace, focus on the soles of your feet and slowly being a wave of an imaginary caress that flows from there to your forehead, relaxing you as it covers you, as you exhale you release all the cares and worries, what a good boy you are, you're doing fine . . .

"I would like you to calmly think of only pleasant memories, Priscilla, think of those wonderful times you have had in your life, think of sunsets and furry little bunnies, envision a field of flowers and now there's a rainbow, dream of being a newborn baby chick, remember your favorite cartoon character, think only of the days before the bad man appeared . . ."

Hahaha.  Yes.  I have little patience for this type thing.  Seriously. We must stay healthy until we are over 100 years old because we will never be able to turn the country over to the Mills.

    Hello R:

Of course it is..  I dunno why people are surprised that he's DOING what he SAID he'd do.  He HATES the press.  He SAID so, and now he's DEMONSTRATING it.

It's NOT the only attack he's gonna make on the Constitution..  Hang on..

Hating a press that treated him unfairly as they behaved like paid campaigners for Clinton is neither surprising nor wrong.  It's also not an attack on the Constitution.  I believe he's doing a TV interview tomorrow night.

    Hello Tm:

Hating the press is different than moving against them. He can do one but not the other.

  • It helps no one that western democracies have allowed mega-tycoons to own and control most of the news media.

These guys pump their conservative agendas full time – making slight adjustments for their target audiences. Where they do publish oppsing view, they are careful to present it with the desired slant and trajectory.

The only area that they cannot own and control, so far, is the internet.

If Trump or others succeed in repressing what little freedom of information is still available,

IT specialists and people with mobile phones everywhere will ensure that the information gets posted where it can be found.
