Is the debate between the VP candidates, if it happens, going to be more interesting than the one between Trump and Harris?

In the red corner, a dude who f**ked a couch.

Please stop spreading the fake story about Vance. I am embarrassed that my governor included it in a joke. There are plenty of issues with Vance, we don't have to spread falsehoods found on X. Remember,  when Trump was asked about the criticisms about his VP pick, he said it doesn't matter who you pick, it doesn't affect the vote. As a voter, I absolutely think it does.

I will take the man who actually served in the war rather than Timpon who lies about his service.  (Never served in war but claims to have)

There are things claimed about Walz as well...worse than the supposed couch...do we want to there?  This post was edited by my2cents at August 11, 2024 8:30 AM MDT

Vance was a reporter, not a combat soldier.

He WENT to the combat zone in IRAQ.   He did what the Marines assigned him to do.  He actually carried one of "weapons of war" in an actual war zone....unlike Watz who lied about carrying a weapon of war in a war.  (He was in Italy)

So it the left criticizing military journalists now?  Interesting.

The left has been very careful about thanking Vance for his service and acknowledging there are many roles in the military and all are needed.

Like I said in the other thread, keep up the nonsense. Because pissing off veterans and military is going to help your opposition,  not you.

We only know about Walz actions because other veterans who served with and directly after him  complained about how he left the military and the timing of it.

The American people deserve to know what the situation of his leaving was and they can make their decision about how they feel about it. This post was edited by my2cents at August 10, 2024 6:07 PM MDT

There are alway haters, but his record is out there for everyone to see. Some people either can't understand what they're looking at or choose not to. I'm done with this. I am satisfied with what I know to be true.

He was on active duty when he was sent to Iraq.  Walz put in his retirement request before his unit was tasked with going to a war zone.  What is it about that you don't understand?  After 24 years of service, don't you think he had the right to retire?

Give it up. She is now an expert on how military retirement works. These issues came up when he ran for governor so I've heard it all before. He was elected and re-elected. He can handle this. This post was edited by Jane S at August 11, 2024 7:16 AM MDT

Not 24 yrs. 23+ yrs.  He was a few months short of 24
Yrs. He did not finish his last enlistment in full. For whatever reason.   And no, he quit 2 months after they announced the battalion was likely going to be deployed.  (Told to be ready Mar 2005....he retired MAY 2005...demoted in Sept 2005. Battalion deploys to Iraq in spring 2006)

Again, the American people can look at the dates, the actions and decide for themselves.

Oh, forgive me - 23+ years, not 24.  So, they were told to be ready in 2005, he retired two months later and they actually deployed in Spring 2006 - almost a year later.  After all that time, he was entitled to retire.  I'm looking at the dates and I'm satisfied that he was entitled to retire when he did.

I am not saying he was not entitled to retire.  He was entitled to retire at 20yrs. But timing is what it is. And someone above him did not like what he did because he was demoted down 3 ranks in Sep 2005.

Wasn't he demoted because he didn't finish the course?  You're all over the place with your excuses.  Time to stop.

He was demoted 3 ranks...not just the one that required the course.  I am not claiming to know the reason why the 3 ranks.  But the CMS was the only one that required the course (as I understand it)
You would think if it was just uncompleted course then would have just demoted 1 rank to Sergent Major but they moved him to Master Sergent.....

Command Sergent Major (Walz in May 2005)
    Sergent Major
    First Sergent
Master Sergent (Walz in Sept 2005)

He went down 3 ranks....not 3 pay grades. (The E-# are.pay grades not ranks)

They retire at the last rank they held for 3 years. I hope this helps you.

I assume this is for pension/retirement pay amount.

But using this information then Walz certainly knew he was not a Retired CMS.

Yes, he did know. How many times should we go over this same topic? These same questions were raised during his two gubernatorial runs. He won them both anyway. He had many supporters in the guard and several detractors.  This happens in a political race. The voters decided then, and they will decide in November.

So why are people defending his lie? And claiming he did not lie?   Of course the voters will decide in Nov (assuming , he does not get the boot before then)

OK, you're right. I'm voting for Trump, because he would never, ever say anything that wasn't 100% true. No exaggerations, no mispeaking, no ambiguous statements. It will be refreshing not to have to defend the politicians I support.

First Sergeant and Master Sergeant are the same pay grades and the same E-8 rank.
