Americans belief that democracy works for them is at an all-time low. Will history repeat itself or is there a way to save it?

A Gallup poll in December 2023, showed that only 28% of Americans believe democracy works for them. That belief has been declining for years. We see one solution, can the Democrats step up with a better way?
This is long video, but very thought-provoking.

The way to save it is to make Trump's victory too big to rig.
And if there are questions about the procedures and election activities,  then actually investigate them and correct the issues and arrest and imprison the cheaters.

Michigan has more people on the voter rolls than they have people over 18 in their state.
There was a voting machine in GA that was changing votes.  The voter caught it. But the paper prints a QR code for tabulation, the human eye cannot read a QR code to verify the vote was recorded correctly and our smart phones also will not read the QR code.  This should not be allowed.

MO had 78K people register in one week and reportedly $28k of those people were dead people.

    Now these need investigated.

In my opinion, there's a big difference between democracy working for its citizens and elected officials working for their constituents.  I can't imagine all those naysayers wanting to live under any other kind of government than a democratic one.

I can believe that the candidates that we are presented with for whom we vote is lacking.  Far too many are in it for what their office can do for them personally rather than what will benefit their communities.  Term limits should prevent candidates from making this a lifetime job.  One of the biggest obstacles to getting better candidates is the amount of contributions to political campaigns.  Each candidate should be given the same amount of money to use for advancing their candidacy.  That way, we don't get the best candidates money can buy rather than the best candidates.  The billions of dollars spent on political campaigns is ludicrous.  In addition, campaigns should run for six to eight months before election - not two years.

     Good suggestions.

I have said before on here that we need to overturn the Citizens United Ruling, which is, IMO, responsible for money essentially buying candidates.

I hadn't thought about term limits, but it's worth considering. What I see lately, is very little of consequence getting done in Congress on either side. That may be because more time is spent campaigning and fundraising, than on serving the public. Shortening the campaign times could help.

Much of what is not getting done rests on one party or the other not wanting to give the other party an edge in the election.  One example is the bipartisan border bill that Trump told his party to nix because he didn't want Biden to look good possibly fixing something the GOP has been harping on for a long time.  I also think that the Senate's ability to table any legislation sent to it by the House should be eliminated.  Every bill the House sends up should be discussed and voted upon.  That's what they are there for and if they can't be bothered, they should resign and let someone who cares take their place. The bipartisan border bill failed because of what was in the bill:

That border bill started in the Senate, but it still applies that the House shouldn't shrug it off. We all heard Trump say what he did,  but incorrect justifications are being circulated, as if intelligent people didn't read the actual bill for themselves.

What "campaign times"? Trump has been campaigning non-stop for more than ten years. He was holding his ego-stoking rallies constantly even while in office.
