I always like the fact of two of my favorites having been married - - what talent as individuals and together! Carly Simon and James Taylor.

    "Apologize"   by One Republic

    " . . I loved you with a fire red, but now it's turning blue . . . "

(I'll post the original version of the song which I prefer (not the huge hit with Timbaland)

I've grown to like Icehouse more and more thanks to you.

And fun to me - - the first two living creatures appearing in the music video here - - an attractive man and a beautiful cat -- two of my favorites. Ha. :)

A quasi-edit to my other "official" answer -- with all my joking about my apologizing on the site and in life - - it wasn't until a day or two after posting my answer that the song title hit me. :)

But I've always been floored with enjoyment by One Republic, and "Apologize," the first song I heard from them, is an amazing song to me, both musically and lyrically.
And it helped me get through a very challenging time when a friend turned on me and went to extreme lengths to totally publicly and personally destroy me.
I came through it all well. The song helped me, too. And, believe it or not, through that whole experience, I knew I had done nothing to deserve the treatment I received. And I knew I wasn't the one who might need to apologize.

I think I may post the song lyrics here, too -- they're very meaningful to me.
Thanks for reading my late-at-night/early beautiful dark morning post :)

    "Apologize"

I'm holding on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground
And I'm hearing what you say, but I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you're sorry, didn't think I'd turn around, and say (that)

"It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."
I said, "It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."

I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat, but it's nothin' new (yeah)
I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue, and you say,
"Sorry," like the angel heaven let me think was you, but I'm afraid...

"It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."
I said, "It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."

"It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."
I said, "It's too late to apologize (it's too late)."

I said, "It's too late to apologize," yeah (too late)
I said, "It's too late to apologize," yeah (too late)

I'm holdin' on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground

How could I have forgotten Ruth, Anita and June? Yikes!
The world knows I love them.

EDIT: And Bonnie but she had gone solo by this song.

"Fire"   (They do Bruce Springsteen's writing talent well)

Ha! :)  I remember the album covers, too. I admit I was more into the music but the album covers were provocatively cool. :)
