Hunter gets a full pardon. Anyone surprised?

I am not.

Anybody else would have been offered a plea deal. Unlike Trump, Hunter Biden repaid every penny, with late fees. And making an error on a firearms application isn't even a misdemeanour unless you're the son of your chief rival - those charges were brought while His Royal Orangeness was POTUS.

No Hunter ran out the clock on the millions. DOJ slow walked the case until the statute of limitations ran out.

Lying on a gun application is a Felony punishable by up 10 yrs. Not a misdeanor.    Kodiak Black was imprisoned for the same thing.

The taxes Hunter owed were paid by Kevin Morris.

"The loans were not made in the form of cash to Hunter Biden, but were largely direct payments to third parties. They included payments to the IRS for back taxes owed for the years 2016 through 2019, rent on a house, legal fees for other attorneys, payments to Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, child support and outstanding payments for a Porsche.

Morris testified that the loans were made in part to help Hunter Biden maintain his sobriety, and that past clients with addiction issues historically have had issues with their taxes."

It doesn't matter who pays the money, the back taxes were paid with interest.

I never heard of Kodak Black. Here's what a link to what I found. Not quite the same offense. And he was granted clemency by Trump, so there's sort of a similarity.

He was charged and convicted of the same crime as Hunter. That is the point. No one claimed they had the same type history. Hunter being the sin if a Senator would have a cleaner record even if he did the exact same things (not claiming he did)

He was discharged from the military due to cocaine use but of course there was no charges.

Point is same law was broken and they were charged. Neither used their gun in a crime.
This charge is normally brought from investing other crimes....which is what happened.  Not because it is not a serious crime but because out law enforcement need more resources.

Personally, I think if we truly want to end gun crime, we start by enforcement of the gun laws we have. Lie on an NCIC form (the gun back ground check form) you go to prison.  Try to buy a gun when you are not allowed to buy a gun, the police should come and discuss why you were trying to purchase a weapon. Commit a crime with a gun ( not self defense, accidents,  etc) and you go to prison.  5 yrs added to whatever the sentence would have been.   No parole no reduction of sentence.
Let people know, there will be no more slaps on the wrists.

I don't expect you to concede that the crimes are not equivalent,  but I don't plan on arguing further. I have better uses for my time.

There are approx 250-300 people charged for breaking this law each year.
Not just Black or Hunter.  But people are indeed charged and imprisoned for it.
I am not the one who claimed it was a crime no one is charged for unless the gun is used in a crime. This is simply not the case.

As I said above NO gun crime should be ignored.

You got me. Over a million firearms are sold each month in the US (20M in all of 2023)and  if 250 -300 are charged with lying on the form each year, then it's common as mud.

Apples and oranges. The vast majority of the people who buy a firearm do not lie on the form.
Who said it is common?  I said it is a crime and people do get charged for it not just Hunter because he is Biden.  But Hunter and others who are criminals and druggies.

Got it. Hunter charges not political. Trump charges are political. Makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Trump was charged with crimes out of statue of limitations.  Crimes they literally changed the laws to able to charge.

Biden crimes are normal crimes normal people are  charged with every year.

"Hunter Biden, an ensign, [was] selected for commission as a reserve officer through the Direct Commission Officer program in 2012, according to Cmdr. Ryan Perry, a Navy spokesman. He was commissioned into the Navy Reserve unit for Navy Public Affairs Support Element East in Norfolk, Va. Biden, who had no prior military experience, was one of six officers commissioned nationally into the Navy Reserve public affairs division.

Hunter Biden sought and received a waiver to join the service because of his age."  He was 42 at the time.

"Hunter Biden's tenure in the U.S. Navy Reserve was a short one. In October 2014, the news broke that he had failed a drug test for cocaine in June 2013, and he was discharged in February 2014 (we note that it is more common to use the term "dismissed" instead of "discharged" for commissioned officers such as Biden, but in practical terms they refer to the same types of action)."  However, he was not dishonorably discharged.

Did I say he was dishonorable discharged?  What he got was an administrative discharge because he failed a test for cocaine.
So what is your point? He was removed from the military because of his cocaine usage.    Are you denying this?

You said:  "He was discharged from the military due to cocaine use but of course there was no charges.

First of all, the more common term is "dismissed" not "discharged."  Your implication is that there were no charges because he was Biden's son.  My point was that there are many others who are also not charged for the same offenses.

The actual term they is ADMINISTRATIVE DISCHARGE.   And the reason for the ADMINISTRATIVE DISCHARGE was that he tested positive for cocaine usage.
Now there are 3 types of ADMINISTRATIVE DISCHARGES: Honorable Discharge, General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions and Other Than Honorable (OTH)
    Hunter recieved one of these.

The point is he was removed from the military because of his drug abuse.  Now as to the reason a court marital was not sought we don't know. Could just be that he was only in for about a yr before he failed the drug test. So he was not entitled to a separation board hearing...which a court martial can be used in place of the separation board hearing.   Or his family name.

Point is recieved an ADMINISTRATIVE DISCHARGE. This post was edited by my2cents at December 10, 2024 12:16 PM MST

Are you done now?  Because if you aren't, you're going to have to argue with someone else because I've had enough.  You want to have the last word?  You've got it.

Administrative discharge because of cocaine usage.

With Hunter not saying which one my guess it was not the Honorable one. Most likely the OTH discharge.
