Is this more spiteful sour grapes politics by Trump?

Trump signed an executive order to roll back Biden’s efforts to put a cap on the cost of prescription drugs. I think there are 2 possible reasons why he did.

The prescription drug cap idea was Biden’s so Trump wants to end it out of spite.

Or Trump is getting a kick back from the drug company's so he wants to end it out of spite and greed.
Cheers!

I could be wrong, but I think the existing caps still are in effect. Trump put a stop to Biden's order to find ways to lower more drug prices.

Update.  This is the Biden Executive Order that Trump rescinded. The drug price caps are part of the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law.

I’m glad to hear that the price caps might still be in effect. Also that maybe Trump can’t change that because it was put into law. But I think it is horrible that Trump stopped Biden's order to find more ways to save Americans money on prescription drugs. Cheers!

I can't find anything he's done that will benefit the average American. He is not president because he wants to serve the citizens,  he is president because he wants to control them.

Trump couldn't care less about the average American.  He can't care about anything beyond himself.

We all know who got front row seats at his inauguration, and it wasn't his loyal base.

I just found out there was 15 more drugs for which lower prices were in negotiations. So, that ended.

What kind of president would end such a good thing for Americans just out of spite? Even if he did it out of greed for kickbacks it is still awful. Cheers!

The same kind of guy that pardoned a man who tasered a cop.

When a reporter asked Trump why he pardoned a guy that tasered a cop – Trump’s first response was - “Well I don’t know”.
Then he went into a rant about how bad the crime is in America. Seems to me that if crime is bad you would want police that are up and standing – not down on the ground thrashing around and possibly losing control of their body fluids.
Then Trump went on a Biden rant and how he pardon a bunch of criminals before he left office. Cheers!

Do parents excuse their kid's bad behavior because he claims some other kid did it too?  If you get stopped for speeding and explain that you were just keeping up with traffic, does the officer say that's OK? Be able to own your action or don't do it.

The same kind of man who encouraged an insurrection, the same kind of man who didn't care if those insurrectionists hung Mike Pence, the same kind of man who pardoned all of those insurrectionists, the kind of man who thinks those in the military are a bunch of losers, the same kind of man who would make fun of someone with a disability.  You get the picture.  I don't have enough room to list all of the other reasons.

I got the picture of what kind of person Trump was back when he started separating kids from their parents without keeping proper records of what kid belonged to what parent. And only gave the kids and parents a foil blanked to sleep on. Then he deported them to different areas and some of those kids never reconnected with their parents. So I think Trump is a heartless monster that thrives on the suffering of others. He is also the kind of heartless monster that nightmares are made of (lots of those kids probably still have nightmares about their ordeal). Cheers!

I think through the magic of Hollywood I got another picture of what kind of heartless monster Trump is. In the movie Lost In New York - a kid asks Trump how to get to an address that was 8 blocks away. And Trump just points to the direction of the address with a smug look on his face instead of hailing and paying for a cab for the kid. Trump knew what the scene was before they shot it and he should of said – I’m not shooting the scene like that – people are going to think I’m a heartless monster for sending a kid by himself through the streets of new York. Cheers!

The Inflation Reduction Act was not overturned.  Medicare can still negotiate prices.

True, but Bidens Executive order 14087 was overturned which will affect the process of those negotiations.

I have not found out exactly why that one specifically was rescinded.  It mentioned expanding experimental type of treatments....I don't know if that is why or not.

But in any case, CMS can still negotiate prescription prices.

My very first reply to this discussion stated that the IRA was signed into law and linked the executive order that was rescinded. In my last post, I reiterated that and attached a link that explained the issues with overturning the Biden order which authorized the HHS to work on other strategies pertaining to lowering drug costs and capping costs. We do not yet know how (perhaps whether), this administration will proceed on the issue of drug costs. But, to your point, yes they can negotiate. However, they could decide to delay the next round of negotiations (due to start in February) or reduce the resources needed to implement the process, or to not negotiate at all, or to proceed according to Biden's plan.

Big Pharma is pushing back on these lower costs and fighting them in court. The administration could decide not to defend against those lawsuits.

Many of the GOP disagree with capping drug prices and want to repeal that part of the IRA.

Big Pharma makes a lot of campaign contributions on both sides of the aisle,  but more to Republicans than to Democrats.

This is a big issue, popular with voters and we will have to wait and see how it plays out.

It is hard to tell whether there was any reason for overturning the order or if the reason was only that Biden issued it.

We will have to wait and see exactly goes on.

I know Trump has favored CMS being able to negotiate prices. And have not heard him backtrack on that.  So I believe there was some other thing in there that was a poison pill so to speak.

Requiring workers to come back to work in an office is the least of their problems.  At least they have jobs to which they can come back.  It's the ones who are going to be fired for no reason other than they aren't Trump butt-kissers about whom I'm concerned.  Maybe all those ignorant, toothless rednecks who voted for him can fill those positions - assuming they are literate.

That’s what I figure and fear.

A very wise man once said – “I think it is going to get a lot darker before it gets lighter” and that man was the scarecrow from the wizard of OZ. Cheers!
